Bulge-o-phobia: the fear of summer
Hello, all my dear readers! I know its been awhile since I last posted so I decided it was time for me to update all of you on my interesting life (please note my sarcasm lol). Recently, temperatures have been sky rocketing and as the temperatures get higher the less clothes people wear. My school is located in PA so there are no beaches around, but many of the guys and girls think our school's campus quads are their personal beaches. I'm walking to and from class and all I see is girls and guys laying out in their bathing suits on the grass trying to catch some rays. I know maybe reading it, it doesn't seem like a big deal, but trust me when you're going to class and you see a girl/guy in some skimpy outfit you start to feel like they are out of place among the mass of students fully clothed running to class. I know what some of you all are thinking. Maybe I'm just jealous because I can't be that girl in the bikini. Maybe I'm uncomfortable because I feel uncomfortable in a bathing suit. Okay, let me address this. First, I could get in a bikini if I wanted to. Would I feel awesome and comfortable in it? Uh...no, but honestly most people wouldn't and most of the girls wearing them don't. They just pretend to be. It's the same for guys. They're just as insecure as females, but they know how to play off well, but the fact is we're all insecure. A lot of us just don't want to admit it because we don;t want to look weak or we don't want people to pity us., but I'll be the first to admit it. I AM INSECURE! And so are you and everyone else. Insecurity and body issues are not limited to just the young either. People in their 30s, 40s and up don't feel that great about their physical appearance either. And these feelings only get worst as the weather gets warmer because as the weather gets warmer people develop bulge-o-phobia. What is bulge-o-phobia you ask my dear readers? Well, allow me to tell you. Bulge-o-phobia is the fear of an appearing bulge as the summer/spring months approach. Most people put on weight during the winter so they get nervous about having to try to fit into their summer/spring clothes. They develop the fear that their winter bulge will be so prominent that they will not be able to hide it. It's a sickening disease and I am here today to address how irrational it is. First, most people are too worried about how their bodies look to worry about yours. Second, the harder you try to hide it the more uncomfortable you will feel. You can't hide it! That's the fact. Third, you can be scared all you want but the fear is not going to make the bulge disappear. Well, then what should we do about our bulges my dear readers ( because I have one too)? I say we embrace them! I know, not hating your body is a crazy idea right? But honestly this is the only solution. I';m not saying walk around topless and rub your tummy. No,what I'm saying is don't try so hard to make the bulge disappear. So, you have a little blubber int he midsection? So what! Your one of many! Have no shame! And if people give you dirty looks just ignore them. If you eat right and work out, one day you'll bulge -o-phobia will be cured, but those people they'll still be suffering from reverse bulge-o-phobia: fear of other people's bulges. Thank you for your time and don't hesitate to message or comment. :)
