9 Days 'Til Vday...And Let The Propaganda Begin!

Hello all my dear readers! First, let me apologize for not posting last week. College life is not the easiest. So as I’m sure everyone is aware of Valentine’s Day is coming up. The holiday of love. To people in relationships, this is probably a time of excitement and anticipation while to those of us who are living the single life ( including me) it is a time of annoyance and irritation. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying be all anti-love and in no way am I trying to protest Valentines Day (though in past years the thought has come to my mind). My issue with this holiday isn’t the holiday itself, but how it’s thrown into your face! Just the other day, walking from my classes I was bombarded with Vday posters. They were in the academic buildings, in the dorms, in the cafe….everywhere! A constant reminder to all us singles that this Vday, you’re going to be alone. It doesn’t really break my heart that I’m going to celebrate this Vday in my room alone with a box of chocolates, sparkling cider andromance comedies, but that doesn’t mean I want to be constantly reminded of the fact. I’m sure people feel the same about Christmas. If you’re a person with no family or no one to celebrate this winter holiday with, the constant commercials and fliers probably ruin your holiday times. After thinking about all this, I’ve come to the conclusion that holidays have just become too commercialized. I know I’m not the first person to observe this but these last few days have really made it apparent to me. Tell me what you guys think. Is Valentines Day now just as commercialized as other holidays like Christmas and Easter? Let me know what you think! Until next time! :)
