Hello, readers! So, I just wanted to write a quick little mini post for some laughs. I was day dreaming earlier today (a common activity for me) and I realized there is an issue that plagues women. Bad pick up techniques! I'm not a dating expert nor am I a love therapist, but I am a female and so, I have been victim to bad pick ups. A pick up is the first impression a woman has of a man. It is a major deciding factor into whether the relationship will have a chance to actually become a relationship. Now, I am only discussing this topic in general terms. Everyone is an individual and so, different things work for them. Please, take this into consideration when reading the post. With all that said let's move on to how not to approach a woman way #1.
#1:
Many men believe complimenting women is a sure way to get a date. So, when a man sees an attractive woman, the first idea that comes to his mind is flattery. The belief is if you tell her she is beautiful enough she'll eventually cave in and go out with you. This is not always the case. Actually, sometimes, it can even backfire. If you keep loading us with compliments (particularly physical compliments), it can make you look shallow, like you have only one thing on your mind and therefore less appealing. Not to mention, complimenting our physical traits is what every guy goes for! It's over done and cliche. New material, please.
Yes, everyone loves compliments, but why does a compliment have to refer to physical characteristics? It doesn't is the point. I know that it can be difficult to think of anything else to say since you really know nothing else about the person , besides how they look. However, you can rely on other ques to spark a conversation. For example, you see a girl at a movie theater. Don't walk up to her and tell her she has pretty eyes. You'll probably end up sounding like a douche. Instead, ask her what movie she is going to see or has seen. Maybe you guys are seeing the same movie. Maybe you have the same taste in film. Perhaps, you enjoy the same actors. Do you see how a conversation can start from just this one simple question? And from this topic you can expand into other areas of conversation. So, easy.
However, don't think that I am saying women don't appreciate you mentioning our physical appeal. We do, but please don't be obnoxious about it. Also, it shouldn't be the first thing out of your mouth. Save these compliments for later, perhaps one of the first dates, after you have gotten to know her a little better. For example, if you aced the pickup, on the first date go ahead and mention her eyes, hair, face, etc. We did get all dolled up for you after all! Avoid mentioning the body since, once again, that makes you look like you have one thing on your mind. Saying things like, "I like the color of your eyes" or "Your hair looks really nice" are fine, but don't be cheesy. "Your eyes are deeper than the ocean" is heard too many times in the movies.
Well, that's all I have for now. Until my next post. Ta-ta!
Your Turn: What do you guys think about this post? What are your pick up techniques? What lines, if any, do you use? Do you agree with me or do you think I'm being too hard on the boys out there? I wanna know. Leave a comment below, please. :)
