The Good, The Bad and the Yet to Be Seen

Hello, readers! Can you believe that in a couple weeks it will be 2014? I know. My mind is blown, too. The years go by so fast now. When I was a kid it seemed like it took forever for time to go by. I would wait for the holidays, and all the goodness they brought with them, anxiously. Now, fall comes and goes so quickly. Winter gives us some snow and hot chocolate dreams before moving on, as well. Spring moves through quickly like a light morning rain. Summer goes by like a breeze. It all just happens so damn fast! My little cousins are growing up. They're teenagers now and dealing with the problems I once ad that they never understood. Time truly does fly. And that is why we should make the most of all the time we are given. How do you guys like to use your time? Me? Well, I enjoy movies....

So, after visiting the movie theaters with my bffne (best friend forever and eternity) I started thinking about all the movies I watched this year. All the new releases my friends and I sped off to see. And so it got me thinking, why not make a post about the good, the bad and the yet to be seen for me this year? I mean it's simple and I hit you guys with heavy emotional stuff all the time. Let's lighten up a bit! :) So, here it is...

The Good:
1) "Warm Bodies:" This movie is a perfect combo of comedy, romance and horror. Now, more emphasis is placed on the romance aspect, but overall the movie is still dark. Zombies are seen ripping humans apart and can even transform into creatures of a darker breed, if they aren't saved. I have never seen a zombie movie done like this with so much thought put into the symbolism (the brain, the heart...). If you watch the movie, you'll know what I mean.

2) "Jack: The Giant Slayer:" Great movie! I love fairy tale remakes. The acting is good as well as the graphics. Modern twists are added here and there which makes the movie easier to relate to and more interesting. There are a few differences from the story, but I guess nothing can be a perfect copy.

3) "The Croods:" I am a big fan of animation and this is an animation movie done right! Not only is it hilarious, but the ending actually made me tear up a bit. If you are looking for something to watch with the family this is it. Also, Nicholas Cage and Emma Stone do a great job voice acting.
The Bad:

1) "Movie 43:" You'll probably get a few laughs and chuckles, but for me, at least, much of the humor was over done and obnoxious. It's like they were trying too hard to make you laugh. This  resulted in the movie not being that funny at all. Honestly. some parts were just crude and not well done. If you order Chinese food and want a bad movie to distract you, I'd watch this. If not, please avoid.

2) "Beautiful Creatures:" Do not see this movie! I repeat: DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE! Especially, if you have read the books because this movie is a true insult to the writing. The acting is horrible, the plot is rushed, the writing (specifically the dialogue) is atrocious and all around the movie is just bad! There's a reason this movie only did well in the international market. Do I have to list other past movies that only did well internationally? Avatar: The Last Air Bender....yeah, let's not have a repeat of that.

3) "The Host:" I could read the book. I couldn't watch the movie. It was like the first Twilight movie all over again. Horrible! The acting was bad. The plot development was bad. The writing was bad. Everything was just bad. They tried to make up for what they lacked in certain areas by putting emphasis on the cool alien gear, technology and the confusing alien-host-human romance, but you can bedazzle a skunk as much as you want and in the end it will still be a skunk. Meaning it will still stink!

The Yet to Be Seen:
1) "Gangster Squad:" Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Enough said.

2) "Hansel and Gretel:" Why have I not seen this yet? Something must seriously be wrong with me. Modern remake of a classic fairy tale? Yes, please! Serve it up. Yum. :)

3) "The Great and Powerful Oz:" From what my friends have told me , this movie is great. Why haven't I seen it? Too much work not enough play I guess, but when it comes to great cinema, no excuse is acceptable.

Your Turn:  If anyone has seen any of the third list movies I would appreciate some critiques. What did you think of the 2013 movies? What were your favorites? What were your not so favorites and what have you not seen? What do you think of my list? I wanna know! Hope to hear from you guys. Until next time, ta-ta!
